Our mission, vision and goals

Mission

The mission of the Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Interest Group is to provide the ecosystem to interact, network, form extensive partnerships and leverage expertise in a wide variety of areas to enable biopharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities to evaluate and eliminate production bottlenecks and limitations, improve drug safety and efficacy, and to ensure worldwide drug supply and acessibility.

Vision

BMIG will increase North Carolina’s national and international reputation in biopharmaceutical manufacturing by enabling the state’s universities and colleges to enhance their leadership in this sector, and to stimulate and encourage new research, educational and training programs that increase funding opportunities from government, industry and non-profits.

Goals

BMIG will work to achieve the following goals:

  1. Establish new biopharmaceutical manufacturing research, training, and education collaborations within and outside the NC State community.
  2. Create awareness and interest among researchers to collaborate in funding opportunities from the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other federal and state agencies.
  3. Leverage infrastructure, equipment, and other resources and expertise at NC State’s Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC), Molecular Education, Technology and Research Innovation Center (METRIC), and Analytical Instrumentation Facility (AIF), as well as other university core laboratories.
